The Good Samaritan Told by Jesus Christ in his Time . . . and Modified for our Time

Jesus answered, "A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. By chance a certain priest was going down that way. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side. In the same way a Levite also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he travelled, came where he was. When he saw him, he was moved with compassion, came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. He set him on his own animal, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, and gave them to the host, and said to him, 'Take care of him. Whatever you spend beyond that, I will repay you when I return.' Now which of these three do you think seemed to be a neighbor to him who fell among the robbers?"

He said, "He who showed mercy on him."

Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do."

The Good Samaritan adapted for 2013
By Charles Harvey
"A certain man was going down from Chicago to Virginia and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. By chance a certain Democratic member of Congress was going down that way. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side and said: “I will call the police to come handle it”. In the same way a Republican member of Congress also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side. Saying: “Another welfare case that is most likely an alcoholic or on drugs.” Then, an independent Member of Congress came across the poor man. He stopped, and leaned down to hear the faint whisper coming from the poor pans swollen bleeding lips. He heard him say that a Demarcate and a Republican just walked away from him and did not offer any help. Then the man from the Independent Party Member of Congress rose up in anger that Democrat and Republican did not help. So, the independent walked away saying to the poor man still lying on the road: “I will make sure the people know about the injustice done to you;” while reaching for his cell phone to call CNN to let them know about the inhumane treatment to this poor man by both parties.  But then when it appeared all hope was lost for the poor man; a garbage truck stopped and two Negro’s got off the truck and walked over to help him. When they looked at him they were moved with compassion. They took medical supplies from the first aid kit they carry on the truck and bound up his wounds and called 911. They waited for the ambulance. When they knew the man was in good hands they hopped back on the Garbage truck and continued on to pick up the garbage from all the good Christians homes.

Good Samaritan bled to death on New York street as 25 pedestrians ignored him for more than an HOUR
By Mail Foreign Service

Blood oozing from his body, this is the homeless man who more than 20 people ignored for nearly an hour as he lay on a New York street after saving a woman from being mugged.
CCTV footage of Guatemalan immigrant Hugo Tale-Yax, 31, shows pedestrians walking past the stricken man.
Some turn their heads to look, others stop to gawk. One even lifts his body, exposing what appears to be blood on the pavement underneath him, before walking away.
